Have Plan to Defeat "ISIS" Within 30 Days

Current Status: Compromise

As of

“[My top generals] will have 30 days to submit to the Oval Office a plan for soundly and quickly defeating ISIS. We have no choice.”
- Trump speech in Greenville, NC, September 2016

On January 28th, 2017, Trump signed an executive order soliciting his generals and security team to develop a plan within 30 days to defeat "ISIS."

As of March 17th, 2017, no public plan has been revealed, but there are reports of a secret plan that basically intensifies efforts already in progress and commits several thousand US ground troops to the effort.

Apparently these efforts were already working, with "ISIS" (more generally referred to as Daesh in the region) rapidly losing the ground war in Syria. Progress in Iraq on retaking Mosul that began in October 2016 is nearing completion, while US forces initially committed in late 2016 to support Syrian Democratic Forces, Kurds, and other Syrian rebel forces are encircling the Daesh capital of Raqqa. It is not at all clear that any of this progress represents a significant departure from strategy that was in place before Trump was inaugurated.
